Feeling rather vindicated at not having a smartphone.

Because of tracking software that Google installed on Safari for iPhones in 2011/12 Google will have to compensate several million users in the U.K. which may amount to several hundred pounds each.

This sends a strong message to Google that they can’t do exactly as they like.

What shall I spend it on I wonder, and, will Google "harvest" my choice(s) and send me more adverts?

If a payout is forthcoming (and there's no guarantee there will be) then it'll be interesting to see how they determine who is eligible. Will it be those who had a phone that was registered with Apple? Or will it be those who may have purchased a phone during the relevant period? How will this be evidenced as, by the time any court case may be settled, the records may not be available any longer?
And only those that accessed google via safari (which seems to be the crux of the issue).

Yes, I am a bit premature and although there is no precedent for this type of action in the U.K. there is in the US on the same issue with Google so it looks like they’ll have to stump up.

I’ve been waiting a couple of years for this - interested to see how it plays out.

I’m not convinced US companies will pay out to Foreign Powers, especially with Screaming Lord Trump at the helm.

But we’ll see.
