Camping in all forms is better avoided: do enjoy a good night's sleep on a clean, comfy bed.

The only fizzy drink I like is sparkling water, preferably San Pellegrino

I'd like sparkling water if it didn't taste pure boggin. Even sparkling water that's gone flat tastes different.
Why can't they make sparkling water taste like normal water?

ALSO: when I went into that shop in Liguria to buy water I bought sparkling water by accident. That just compounded my woes and made me hate sparkling water even more

I've been trying to get across for a re-run of my 2011 road bike tour of Na h-Eileanan Siar but it's been proving difficult to find the trinity of weather window, accommodation (within the price range of a bum), and bike space on the Oban train.

Some amazing looking hostels on the isles but availability - at least in Barra - is proving very limited.

Can't help in Barra but can find you a bed in Stornoway.

I think the hostel in Castlebay is the only one in Barra - Judging by the number of cycle tourists ploughing up the Hebridean way I would imagine some businesses must be doing good trade.

Yep. It's booked pretty solid. I don't really want to gamble on the weather and book more than a couple of days in advance, I was lucky the last time I was over but I imagine that the road up the Uists is truly apocalyptic if the weather is against you.

Went to see AbFab this afternoon waterproofs in panniers, they were needed by the time we came out of the cinema.
Well, it is the second week of Glasgow Fair after all, it always rains on Glasgow Fair!

Now I remember something I meant to post a while back!
I worked the Open couple of weeks ago, they took us by bus from Glasgow.
In the mornings, when I cycled to town, it did not rain once Wednesday to Sunday.
In the evenings when I cycled home from town it did not rain once Wednesday to Sunday.
On the bus, the minute we passed the sign "welcome to Ayrshire" the clouds gathered and the heavens opened, this happened every day apart from the first day.
I believe you now about the endless Ayrshire rain
