Is a cyclo-cross bike for me?

Yes, I noticed that Potsy. I think I posted about it elsewhere on here.

The downsides are the SRAM double tap (purely personal, as I don't have it on any other bike and it would take some adjusting each time I swapped) and the compact chain rings (personal opinion again). Looks lovely in that plain titanium (?) colour with internal routing on the cables.

Ah I hadn't seen your post norm, thought I had an exclusive there

It does look lovely, I quite fancy the Apex gearing though, not heard anything bad about it so far.
Compact might take some getting used to, I find the 39 ring on the Secteur perfect for most of my riding, if it's a 34 then I can't see it being much use on the flat and the 'big ring' would be for down hills only

Is the sport one the triple?

Second on my list is the Cannondale CAADX 105.

I've got one of these – very happy with it – find it very comfortable. The new Whyte CX bikes also caught my eye.
Generally I think CX bikes are a good everyday bike, not put guards or panniers on mine yet, but the option's there.

You might have beaten me to the draw with posting about it, Potsy. I would have mentioned it in this thread if I had put it anywhere as I spotted the "2012 Early Launch" when I was checking my earlier reply about the Deore LX on the rear.

I recently bought a Boardman cyclo cross , which I will use for short touring 3/4 days, at a time, plus hopefully when I am fitter one day events. Has anyone fitted a sided stand to this bike. Before some of you may groan they are useful when stopping when loaded up with panniers. Because of the cable behind the bottom bracket a rear mounted one would probably be the only one that will fit. I`ve seen the Ventura standard bicycle kickstand for sale on Amazon which looks the best bet so far. Has anyone fitted one and what do they think of it?
