....at how a good clean (especially of the drivechain) really makes a bike run sweet?

I'd not had the occasion of cleaning my commuter for about 3 weeks and a load of crap had built up on the running gear, got home a bit earlier than usual on Friday night and went out on Saturday morning on it (as my new bike hasn't arrived) and it was a joy to ride.

I normally keep it pretty clean but when I do let it get manky I'm always pleasantly surprised at what a difference it makes. I also used my new Park Tools chain cleaner for the first time and I have to say I'm very impressed.

I know what you mean, though I do get the pi$$ ripped out of me for being a bit of a neat freak and having a spotless bike mid-winter!
