Is Argentina the best country for camping in the world?!

There are many free campsites in Argentina. Most towns and villages have one. They are often popular, especially on weekends.

Each placement will have a picnic table often with a shelter above, an asado (bbq grill), a rubbish bin, and sometimes a small light and a plug socket (very useful). There'll be a basic toilet block with space for washing clothes and dishes.

There is a chain of service stations called the ACA (automobile club argentina) each one has a free campsite behind for truckers/people passing through, but they are great. YPF service stations also offer this. The shop in the garage usually sells good local maps, fizzy drinks and ice creams! what more does a tourer need?!

If there isn't a dedicated campsite in the village there will be a plaza and you can often camp there.

The campsites you pay for might have a few more bells and whistles (pool, minimarket, bar, restaurant etc...)

Most national parks have great free camping sites too.

Could the UK be this good one day?! You can wild camp in Scotland but what about building free campsites? I think it would be a fairly low-cost thing to do (no more expensive than public toilets and parks) and make travel in our country more accessible.

I'd be more than happy with simple, low cost municipal sites as can be found all over France but I can't see it happening in the UK.

Brits will never learn to cook beef in the same way as the Argentinians.

Shame the ONLY thing we can agree on is that we both like good beef....

That said, the UK is really bad for camping in the summer from what I've seen. I'd love to be able to wild camp and just chill in a forest with a beer and a book.

I meant that we disagree on a certain group of islands we came to blows about in 1982

 In a sensible world, all humans should pack their bags and leave (along with their domesticated livestock) and the Malvinas ( ;) ) and its coast should become a protected area for wildlife. Problem solved
