Wish we could get a new shed at the school I work in. We have one of those metal garden sheds with plastic handles on. Both doors falling off to, needed replacing 2 years ago but apparently its not priority

You need to get on to the council directly rather than someone at your school that likely doesn't know what they are talking about. Facilities in schools are normally put in via council money and this is very often through a travel plan. There are fairly large pots of money for this, unlike out of the schools' budget, unfortunately there's a lot of worry it'll get downgraded. A lot of facilities get put in up and down the land this way.

Has it been that long?
Wondered why I haven't seen you for ages.

Sorry mate I only just saw your reply here! Yes well over a year since commuting from Hither Green to Farringdon, and had in recent times been doing the Lambeth run up until the back end of last year.

It's lovely to meet people on here who cycle from Hither Green into town :hello:

depends on where it is going to be funded from.and there will be big arguments at LA level to try and push it onto the school. best approach is speak to the staff members of the governing body who can then raise it at next Governors meeting, which should be soon as its new term . the Gb will be in a better position to advise and have far more persuasion at LA level than a mere employee ( I was a parent governor and SWMBO is a teacher) .

Governing bodiers also listen to union representation and your school rep would love to speak to the governors.

Re-read my post. I'm afraid you seem to be just making some post that is neither helpful or informative just for the sake of it. By all means get other people on board, but governing bodies, middlemen and facilities people know less than they think they do on the matter in a great many cases. Funnily enough, it's exactly why the system I've described is actually in place!

MAN!!! Was it busy at work today. Every cycle stand was full at work. In the secure lock up there were around 120 bikes (I lost count), outside there were too many to secure to the sheffields and so people had stuck them on the railings, bins, waste pipes, one guy looked like he may have secured his to an aircon unit.

Today was a joyous day of cycling too, even though I was knackered.

Well, I cycled in, as did Roubaix Murry who happens to be on shift with me, our fellow shift-worker who we've been trying to get to cycle to work managed to break his bike (again) the other day, so still hasn't broken his cycle-to-work duck. As for the admin/maintenance staff, not a man jack amongst them on a bike, tcoh!
Oh, and the guy who bought our old works Pashley Delibike picked it up today, £227 for a 15-year-old rather tatty bike, no' bad eh?

well blow me somebody who is not in possesion of the knowledge i have but thinks they know more .

seems to be a bit of a trait on this forum.

in the schools case that i was on the GB and certainly in the school SWMBO teaches in the school knew more about the funding than the LA . mainly cos both LAs were reluctant to spend.

surprising what can also be done with creative accounting.

the bike sheds that went up at one of the schools ( used mainly by teachers) was funded by applying for a grant for cycling stuff for kids. its not who its what sometimes.

you certainly don't need to cycle much jumping to conclusions like that. thats enough to keep you fit.

My main driver to cycle is time. This morning was an example of this. Car journey is 7 miles and 7 sets of light, this mornings bike journey was 5 miles and 5 lights for the same destination. As to the number of cyclist they've definately increased. Last winter was the first were I had to queue for a set of lights behind four other cyclists in Guildford.

Well normally on my commute route I usually see one other cyclist, a young lady as I head towards the coast in Sunderland. (she always waves)

But the other day, it was amazing I counted 10 other cyclists at various points. I have commuted for years and have never seen this many. It wasnt even a particularly nice day, but they were still out. Sadly all but one were going in the opposite direction, so no commuter racing.

Which way do you go addictfreak?

I go into Sunderland along past the dog track then to avoid the Wheatsheaf roundabout I go through the sheepfolds past the stadium, then over the bridge.

I usually leave at 8ish and come back at 5
