Happy Valley, apparently, is an ironic reference to the fact that the area is awash with drugs.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Like I say, I thought it was superb telly, from start to finish. Fantastic script, brilliant acting, impeccable direction. 10/10.

The bad news is that since last Sunday I've been stuck in the rain in Lagos, unable to view episode 6. However we had a long meeting with a customer yesterday so my colleague quietly downloaded episode 6 on the customer's wifi. Sadly despite our dragging the meeting out to almost 3 hours he didn't manage to get the whole episode so I'm hoping he finished it at home and we can watch it in the car today while stuck in another interminable traffic jam.

(Customer meeting was interrupted when the high tension pole outside his window blew up with a flash and a horrible buzz, showering sparks onto some plastic cans of nitrocellulose, but that's another story....)

We really enjoyed HV. I loved 'Clare's' voice, very soothing somehow.

Anyway, land-mark wise, we were in the cafe which was featured twice in the last episode a month or two back...

I have never been to Hebden, but I am getting that "they covert the things in the shop" & "you'll never leave" image, don't know why or how.

Might touch on it at the TdF stage 2 as I will most likely park & cycle in from Toddy.

Be sure to keep an eye on your bike. Seriously. I'm expecting to read headlines about white vans cruising around and valuable bikes belonging to spectators disappearing. Last month I was on a plane to Belgrade and the Serb lad next to me saw my bike mag and started talking about his friend who sells bikes stolen in Europe.
