Is it a bit daft using expensive wheels for general use?

I've got some new Fulcrum 5's that I could shift for about £150 on eBay and buy a pair of Zondas for £225.

But with the Zondas seeming a bit expensive and exotic, wondering if it's better to just stick with the cheaper Fulcrum 5's for general use like commuting and zips about on the weekend.

Essentially they all wear out at the same rate I guess, one just costs more.

Good wheels should be stronger/more able to cope with potholes. Are they better wheels or just more expensive.

Diff is 200g less and a lighter welded rim on Zondas instead of pinned with the Fulcrums. Anti rotation nipple is Zondas too.

Taken to extremes, you could end up only every riding the clunkiest bike available. Beware this madness and stave it off by riding the nicest you can afford.

Quoted for truth, keeping stuff for best can become a phobia where you never actually use the good stuff, I may know
