Is it ever worth respraying an old car?

A new rear bumper - not the entire bumper, just the cosmetic bit that is body coloured - for Mrs D's Mini Electric is nearly £1400 plus VAT. The paint is almost insignificant in comparison.

Might be useful if you stopped bashing her back end in....

Respray? Thats a bit posh. I painted my Morris Minor with dark blue Dulux we had knocking about. Looked great and covered up all the rust a treat.

Yes that's right, the clear coat that is applied on top of the paint tends to peel in the sun after a few years but repairers do specialise in removing it for a better appearance.

I had crash damage repaired on my Accord, it looked good at the time it was done, but the lacquer all peeled off after a few years even though all the original paint was fine.
