Since John Peel died!?!
it was 25th October 2004, in Peru

Just been reading a page on the BBC website

His 'Record Box' was a great project, sadly I've not opened it up for a while

All the 'Festive 50's, & sessions are listed here;

Thankfully, his son has a show on the radio, to continue his fathers work; http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00slvl3

Mark Radcliffe has a nice tribute to him, in his book "Thankyou For The Days", as he worked with him at a couple of Glastonburys

(that said, Radcliffe is to blame for Chris Evans still being on radio, & Madonnas first session on UK radio)

LCpl Boiled Egg

Three word soundbite
Yep, it is. Time does indeed fly. He went about the same time as Fred Dibnah IIRC.

Just had a look

John; 25th Oct
Fred; 6th November

Fred funeral procession brought Bolton to a standstill, as did Johns, at Bury St Edmunds
(Fred procession even had the Fire Station out, with all the tenders stood out on 'blues', with the Watch standing to attention)
