So, I could shave a good few minutes off my (cold cold) commute, were i to miss out the leg of my journey that takes me around to the bridge and back again... I'm fairly sure that the canal would take my weight at the mo.. It would be fun to say, i rode on the canal to college today... and the look on the boat dweller's faces would proabably be priceless....

having said that, I do have some feline properties, in that I HATE WATER!!!! (cold water anyway)... side effects of riding on the canal could also involve general death, which should generally be avoided...

random thoughts over...

I'm back! Yippeee
and incase they come back, your next of kin are???

You would never catch me riding on a frozen canal.

I've read enough of this sort of crap in the paper and it's amazing how stupid some people are.

it's one of those things that when youre my age, the voices tell you "it's not going to freeze again... now's your chance"

still, might give it a miss tho

I wouldn't even walk over it.

Fair enough.I know what you are saying. Not sure if I would have done it when I was in my twenties but I do remember thinking I was invincible.

I know im not now after illnesses and stuff.

i rode on a canal once when i was about twelve but I'm not going to be doing it now.

work the risk ??? ... no, not really ;)

I think if people saw you and if they had any sense they would probably think how stupid it was.

If it did go wrong then this could lead to other people risking their lives to save you.

Plus the ambulance and the like.

Just a point I thought of.I do remember when I was twenty but I dont remember walking over a frozen canal. Was I really that sensible?

I think im more aware now than then of what would happen if it went wrong.

Apparently Whitehaven harbour is frozen over but there's no roving reporter to go and get a photo of that.

Its just not worth the risk. If you do fall though the ice, you may only have a few minutes in those temperatures before you will find it hard to talk, let alone think properly.

Ive seen fish freeze in seconds in sub zero temperatures. I wouldn't want that to happen to me!
