Is it worth upgrading to a Boardman Comp from Trek 1.2?

When I purchased my Trek 1.2 through the C2W scheme i was gutted the scheme wouldn't cover Halfords so i missed out on the Boardman Comp, a bike i always wanted after the wonderful reviews it always got.

A couple of years down the road i'm really happy with the 1.2 (did the C2C on it this year) but still covet the Boardman comp.

I'm tempted to sell my 1.2 and just buy the comp outside any scheme.

Am i really going to notice the difference between the two ? - i'm tempted but can't test drive 1st so don't want to be disappointed.

Is the Comp the best option at the £600 price point or maybe i should consider alternatives ?

I'm hoping to do about 200miles a month in the better weather so not a beginner but no pro either

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

In shot.. not really.

I have the comp myself and recently got an n+1. I basically think the next level of machine as an upgrade would be £1k+.

The next notch up in the range would be a sure improvement (team carbon) or the limited edition.

My colleague got a Trek 1.5 (lime green looking) and it was good but not as well specced as the comp (2009 model).

I agree, I have a Trek 1.2, but despite it being a great ride, I wanted another road bike but rather than get one similar price, I decided on something totally different and went carbon and a 1000+ and settled on a Trek Madone. My 1.2 is now my commuter and winter bike when the roads are wet and salted and my Madone my pride and joy and also my workhorse

As above but my trek 1.2 is my winter ride and my sunny day pride and joy is a Cannondale carbon six. The only real noticeable difference is that the carbon bike is quicker up hills, and it is more responsive on acceleration.

Zacklaws..........how do you find the 1.2................? I've just ordered the 2012 model in matt black & charcoal. My current ride is a 2011 Madone 4.5 but wanted a winter trainer. My LBS recommended the 1.2 and gave me 10% discount and I have total faith in them but wanted to hear off a regular rider as to how it performs :cold:
