To have told my son that it's his birthday today?

It's actually tomorrow but I'm at work and have a late meeting tomorrow so won't see him in the evening. He's 6 btw...

He might get confused if his teacher wishes him happy birthday in school tomorrow.....

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Personally I'd just tell him the truth. Kids arnt stupid, they know when people tell them fibs. Tell him that because you won't he home until late tomorrow, that you want to celebrate his birthday today with him. He'll understand and accept that much more than you think. They're clever little blighters.

Tell him he's having 2 birthdays this year.Of course next year you'll have to go one better and give him 3 birthdays. It's better than lying n'est pas.

He'd know wouldn't he, my boy's 6 and you wouldn't get that past him,

Tell him why, sure he'd be happy to get any prezzies early.
He doesn't really get the whole birthday thing...although no formal diagnosis yet, we're pretty sure he's on the autistic spectrum and his vocabulary and comprehension is quite limited. Saying that though, he is having a lovely day :-)

As long as he is enjoying himself, that's the main thing then. Have a great day.
