My son will be starting to learn first time cycling on two wheels. Unfortunately all starter bikes are out of stock in our local stores, I a m getting a good second hand bike with gears and dual suspension. Is this bike ok for my 7 year old kid as starter? Apologies for my naive knowledge.

It'll be fine, though it's likely to be heavy.
If circumstances allow, I'd be looking to get him an Isla or Frog bike - they're pricey, but hold their value and designed with little folk in mind.

To me, it’ll be fine to learn to ride on, although on the heavy side, it won’t be long before he’s outgrown it anyway so if he likes riding and uses it, then you could get a decent bike later on
