Is the A9 Cycle path now open up to Inverness??

Last year I think that large sections of the A9 cycle path when shut and the alternative routes put in place weren't very good. Does anyone know if this going to be any better this year??

You have been misinformed somewhere along the line.
Less than 3Km of path was closed near Newtonmore whilst works were in progress to dual a section of the A9. The alternative during this period was to cycle through the road works, no big deal as motor traffic was slowed, or take advantage of the free shuttle taxi offered by the contractor. That work was completed and the cycle route realigned and re-opened before the end of 2011. I am not aware of any proposal to interupt use of the cycle route this coming summer.

Ditto Rocky mountain!! - I thought that the works were going to last more than a year, that's excellent news that they are finished.

Looking forward to using it this summer too!!

The whole of the A9 is to be duelled. Work starting 2017 until 2025. So there is likely to be constant disruption in the future.

Furball - thanks for that so the advice is use it for the next few years until 2017 then find an alternate route!!
