Is the weather going to get any better?

Your guess is as good as mine. Weather forecasting is a tricky thing at the best of times and long range forecasts are often no better than an educated guess. This thread on The Weather Outlook gives quite a good insight into how difficult it all is.

A good rule of thumb though is to expect the opposite of whatever the Daily Express says.:laugh:

Or what Piers Corbyn says! Oh hang on he is the Daily Express........or was! He's gone very quiet these days

 I think he is still around. It's amazing that no matter how bad his forecasts are he always argues that he got it right. I don't know how he keeps his customers.

Sun came out in Falmouth today. Infact, it was so bright that I noticed that the graphite coloured Sirrus that I bought off ebay 4 months ago has got a greenish metallic tint to it.

I certainly hope so. I am starting to forget what it's like to cycle on roads that aren't flooded. It's been a long time now.

Today was the first dry day since 21st of December too. The only few dry daylight hours in between were on Christmas day and you can be sure I went for a ride then too.

I can only remember getting properly soaked two or three times in November \ December, commuting 25 miles a day, 5 days a week.

I commuted for nine months last year, thirty minutes each way. I wear jeans and bring out some over-trousers from a storage bottle when it rains. I really don't think I had to wear the waterproofs on more than a couple of dozen days.

Was it really so bad, or have we swallowed the media's unimaginative, relentless gloom?

I am looking forward to some good weather and it will make my(our) commutes easier. Managed to commute most of the year without mudguards on, of course got sprayed several times though.

It is one of the wettest years ever recorded (since 1910) - don't think it quite broke the record last time I looked. Several monthly and seasonal records broken either locally or nationally.

That said people's perceptions are warped. In 2011 round here at least was an insanely dry year as a whole. It was about as dry as the super dry and superscorchio year of 1959 and superdry 1975 and the slightly wetter 1976 (2003 and 1991 were fairly dry years also). Locally 2012 is miles above the competition years for wetness going back to 1955. I've heard very few apart from meteologists comment how dry 2011 was though.

I don't know what the weather is going to be like Matthew. So I just wrote a brief context of how 2012 was locally to compare with previous years. Locally there are weather records going back to 1883.

In a very crude trivial sense 2013 is unlikely to be as wet as 2012. But it is possible.

And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

Does anyone know if we are forecast for snow this winter if any? Because by the looks of it, our summer is coming about 3/4 months earlier than it usually does (ie it has become warm today).
