I was cycling down the trail path and I came across a cyclist trying to repair a flat tyre. I said do you need help? He said something but I could not make it out so I rode on.

Was this wrong if me?

Completely and utterly wrong in the most possible way you can be. I even carry spares in the car in case I see a cyclist in trouble and have used them many times in the 30+ years I have been doing so.

Well at least you asked - so he's either thinking "what a nice person asking if I needed help" or "what a &*%er., I said I needed help and they rode off"!

I generally always check whether people are okay and need help. Sadly, a lot of people won't admit that they do need help, but it's always good to check (I have had it on laps of Richmond Park where I have asked someone and they've said they're okay, and 20 minutes later I pass them again - I stopped and forced some help on a lad with a snapped chain who had then threaded it back through his rear mech incorrectly once - I got him on his way).

I'll admit having been in the same situation - it can be hard to hear sometimes, so I have assumed that they are okay, possibly incorrectly.

I bet you would have stopped had it been a fit woman!

Yes, I've been reading the other thread; and yes I'm only joking. ^_^

Here for rides.

Whilst the first two examples of your behaviour are admirable, and to be wholeheartedly encouraged whenever a loser with a broken bike is encountered on the road, I have to say something about the third example.

Folk who ride off into the distance laughing?

Nobbers.
