Is This A Good Buy?

Hi folks,

As a complete newbie looking for my first road bike I wondered if this would be a good buy? I'm looking at this or a new Triban 3 if I can get one. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

A 9 month old Carrera Virtuoso which has been well looked after but has a few minor chips and a scuff on the rear mech (which was re aligned afterwards) which happened after a fall. Bike comes with these extras

: new handle cork tape (100 miles old) (£20)
: 2 brand new (100 miles old) Gatorskin clincher folding Continental 4 season tyres. (£80)
: New Cat Eye cycle computer (100 miles old). (£35)
: Topeak saddle bag with full tool kit & puncture kit (£35)
: Topeak frame V bag with sections for Keys and first aid kit & gel & food storage (£25)
: Shimano SPD SL Pedals (£40) (original cage pedals included)

The bike would be serviced again before sale. Asking price is £240

I've read a lot of good things about the Virtuoso and again any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks folks

What is your budget first of all?

Hi, was looking at no more than £300. Thought the Triban 3 ticked all the boxes but saw this and thought it was decent with the extras.

Sounds like a good deal to me, £150+ of extras. Triban's are hard to come by now as they are about to be replaced. Are you able to ride the bike first?

The only problem with the virtuoso is that it used to come with rather heavy alloy forks which made things a bit uncomfortable - so if you budget £40 for some reasonable forks I think the extras tilt it towards the Carrera.

Thanks for the input folks. No decision to make now as I discovered today that it's been sold. Obviously wasn't to be.
