Is this a good choice for a first mtb?

Fancy getting into a bit of the dirtier side of cycling and am looking at this as a potential new purchase, seems decent spec wise and light-ish at a claimed 11.5kg.

Any reason not to go for it, or is there better out there for similar money?

This is it, I know nothing about mtb spec, even less about Sram stuff.
Also the fact it has 26" wheels when I keep seeing 29'ers everywhere.

Yeah. The bridge on those forks is back to front, but speccd that way on those forks.
