Stood at the lights in the ASL waiting for them to change.

See a kid on a BMX.... says to his mate......."I'm going to race him"........

So off he pootles, passes me on the pavement, then spins round and pulls up right next to me.

Oh here we go I think.

Look over to him and say "Fancy a Race ?"

Him "Oh no you'll beat me"

Me "I've only got one gear"

Him "No you haven't"

Me "I have"

Him "Why"

Me "Good For Training.... anyway you've got a smaller gear than me"

Him "Yeh"

Lights then change, he 'tries' to leg it, but get's one wheel in front as I clip in and put the power down. Should have heard him scream in defeat as I took off. "See ya" I said.............

Put a smile on my and his face............

Does that count as a scalp then ?

Yeah he was up for the challenge, he was aware and actively taking part in the race, so in my book that's a scalp! Lol

due to my alarmingly low tally of scalps I happily count the very young and the very old, I even caught myself once mentally ticking off a motability scooter

I will never forget my scalping of an all-the-gear roadie type whilst I was wearing my civvies on a hybrid, and him trying to overtake me for about 4 miles before he finally resorted to mounting the pavement to clear a set of traffic lights I stopped at

I like it when the kids take off on their BMX's or whatever, pedalling like good'uns, and the way they keep looking back to see how far ahead they are. I just hang back a bit so the youngster has to stay ahead or lose face, and they get more and more desperate as their enegy fails.

That's my story and is nothing to do with the little buggers going too fast for me..............
