A Premier League footballer is at the centre of an alleged incident that resulted in a cyclist crashing into the back of the player's car in Manchester.

Rob Lockhart has told The Independent that a matt-black Audi Q7 braked suddenly in front of him while he was cycling through Hale last Thursday evening, causing the cyclist to slam into the back of the vehicle bruising his face and damaging part of his bike.

It has been alleged by Lockhart that the player, who parked on double yellow lines before leaving the car to go to a cash point, refused to give his insurance details, laughing that the cyclist will not be able to find him due to his foreign number plates.

Lockhart posted photos on Twitter of the incident taken by two witnesses, prompting users to identify the footballer, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Greater Manchester Police are looking into the incident.

Another Emma Way or a bit different.I thought motorists whoever they are had to report collisions.

They have to report them if anyone is injured but if its just collision damage all that`s needed is an exchange of Name Address and Insurance details. Failing to give details when asked is an ofence.

Edit : If you do not give details when asked then you must report the accident to police.

What part
The part about HAVING to report them.

To keep this short: in a damage only collision, driver must provide name and address of owner of vehicle (if not him/her) and his own name and address. In injury collision, driver must provide the same PLUS insurance details.

No requirement to report to police. We advise reporting all injury accidents yes, but it's advice only and not a legal requirement unlike the above.

He's definitely named on Twitter but not wanting to prejudice any potential court case I feel unable to reveal his name.
