Is this bike any good? Newbie here.

Hi there,

I've seen a second hand bike on Gumtree made by Giant. My cycling nut of a boyfriend tells me this is a good brand. The owner doesn't have the name of the model and all I have is pictures so I'm a bit stuck with specs.

That is the bike. Does anyone recognise it or know if it will be any good?

I currently have a really cheap, clunky Argos thing as I bought it when I only needed it for the odd leisurely weekend ride. I now need an upgrade as I'm moving further away and will have to cycle to work. My budget is about £250 (I'd still rather not spend that) so I'm looking at second hand.

Hi there, welcome to the forum; Giant have a good name and manufacture a lot of different models for different uses, some a lot more expensive than others. I don't think this bike would have cost a fortune when it was new, probably mid to low price range, £300- ish?? Saying that it looks to be in as-new condition, rack, chainguard, kick-stand, as the seller said, it looks to have been hardly used.

It looks fine, and it's got to be better than your current bike, the main concern will be making sure it's the right size for you.

Looks a bargain to me and the advert 'rings true' as a reason for selling, I'd give it a try.
