Am I the only person that thinks that La Senza is morally wrong to sell bra's to CHILDREN aged 5 to 10?

I'm not talking training bra's either!!!! They are like little replica's of the sexy adult underwear in there, with matching little panties.

And what kind of dumb-ass parents buy these? The same ones that are first to complain if they find out their neighbour is a peodophile???

What the feck is wrong with the world when we are dressing 5 year olds in sexy bras and panties??? or any kind of bra for that matter??

and yes, i know some children develop early at the age of 9 or 10, but they are still children. Should they not be in a simple white training bra from M&S???

I'm so disgusted by it i'm thinking of writing a complaint to their Chief Exec.

The same parents who buy stuff (for themselves and the kids) with Playboy logos. I know it's softcore but it's still porn. I won't have The Sun in the house for that reason. I really do not want my boys assuming that it's fine for girls to walk around with their t*ts out.

Buggi you are not the only one.

I do not know what goes on in some parents heads, at this age they are children but there are some that see it as no problem to dress their children up as mini women. Yes I believe they would be the first to scream blue murder if it came crashing down around their ears.

My 8 year old Grandaughter was at a party recently and one of the other girls there was wearing 2 inch heels!!!! Why??

Would be interested in hearing what the Chief Exec says Buggi. Its a cynical cash in marketing exercise at best very dark and sinister at the other end of the spectrum.

May I suggest a slightly more sophisticated approach. Write a letter pretending to be a paedophile to the Chief Exec commending them on their "grooming" techniques. As a "horrified employee" of the company, leak the letters to the News of the World and the Daily Mail.

Sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

I was once in the docks at Dover and was in smiths or whatever the paper shop place is there looking a the truck magazines. There were parents there moaning about zoo and nuts magazine because they were not right at the top. They said they didnt won their kids to see it. Ok, i understand that, but all they have to do is go into the paper shop, they will soon see topless women in the papers.
When they go to school there is bound to be a kid therewith the sun news paper looking at the topless women and showing it around.

I dont think its right that young girls walk around with playboy stuff, and i think soe of them dont really know what playboy is, they just think its a brand name.
As for young girls walking around in bras, i dont get it. But then if the parents wont to start them young

I totatly agree its absolutely disgusting!

Children should be encouraged to be just that, children!, not mini adults ffs!. So is it any wonder why there are so many teenage pregnancies!.

I reckon mondobongo's hit the nail on the head - it's a cynical marketing exercise.
At the darker end of the moral spectrum, I suspect that anyone who does get a kick out of very young kids in underwear couldn't give two hoots what brand of undies they're wearing.

I had an arguement with some parents the other day about the playboy logo ... its one of the worst things targetted at young girls out there. It's porn ... either way you look at it, and you have 9 years olds walking around with it. But sadly theres a market there and thats why the companies will keep doing it I think.

But equally the companies have to take a stand.

Are we just talking about the orange ones on the Daily Mail web site?

If so I really don't see what the fuss is about, they can hardly be described as raunchy.

La Senza, playboy logo, WTF! These both seem deeply inappropriate and an extension to the crazy ideas other stores have done that people have complained about.

Domtyler... this is a poor example of what's on sale. The ones I saw were "enhancer" bra type, like little replica's of the adult enhancer push up bra's with matching little sexy knickers. They were not innocent in any way. I even checked to see if there was an "small" aimed at the 5 year olds and there was.

Anyway, i'm so disgusted by it I've written this email to the Chief Exec... (well customer services and cc'd what i've guessed is to be her email but asked customer services to pass it on as i want a reply from her) (I may have exaggerated on describing myself as a "young" female ... but I am in my head!)

Please pass this complaint to your Chief Executive as I would like a response from her, as I have never before been so incensed by something that does not directly affect me that I have felt it necessary to write to the head of a company to complain.

Dear Rose

I have been a loyal customer of La Senza for some years, I often pop in once or twice a month to see what nice underwear is on offer. However, today I walked into your Leamington Spa store and within 2 minutes walked out in disgust without buying what I had planned.

Why? Because I came across a stand selling bra's and panties for 5 to 10 year olds? Now I'm no prude and I'm not even a mother. I'm a young female and was planning on buying sexy underwear to wear for my fella... but I have to say I was absolutely gobsmacked! So much so, I even went over to check if the bras really were for 5 year olds. While looking for your email address I found articles on this subject and I now know that you have seen some pressure from campaign groups, yet I still felt I should write so that you know that members of the public feel the same.

What kind of society are we living in when it has now become acceptable to dress 5 year olds in sexy underwear? Lets face it, we are not talking training bra's here! These bra's and pants are almost replica's of what is on sale for adults. They are not even sized correctly (by age rather than a real bra size) so you cannot seriously pass them off as training bras. In fact, what I saw looked very much like an enhancer bra! Even so, since when does a 5, 6, 7 or 8 year old need a training bra? and a sexy little number at that!

9 and 10? Yes, sometimes girls do develop early, but that's what Marks & Spencer's training bra's are for! In 28AA and simple white, not designed to sexualise a 9 or 10 year old CHILD who has not yet fully developed.

I returned to work and told a few of the women I work with and I have to say the response from them was the same. "That's sick" as one girl put it.

What kind of dumb-ass parents are you selling these to? I suppose the same dumb-ass parents that are the first to complain if their daughter was the victim of a peodophile, or if a peodophile moved in down the road? Yet it seems they have no problem sexualising their young children? I suppose you will say your company does not put a gun to their head and force them to buy... but it is your company supplying the ammunition.

I think as a society we all have some kind of responsibility to our children and I fail to see how we can continue to complain about peodophiles living in the community and teenage pregnancies/underage sex, if we choose to sexualise our children at such an early age. Maybe you should take a good hard look at the way your company is heading as it would seem now to be down a slippery slope. Seems to me to be a good time to now take a step back, then take the lead and act a little more responsibly as a company, leave the training bra's to reputable companies like Marks & Spencer, and stick to adult lingerie which is where your talents lie... and should stay.

As for losing sales, I seriously doubt removing these articles would damage your company profits, it certainly would not damage it's reputation if you removed them, rather than digging your heels in claiming that "children like to dress up". Yes they do, but their own enhancer bra and sexy matching panties is not the way forward. And the vacant stand could be used for another adult design.

Maybe you think I am going over the top talking about peodophiles, but I have worked in criminal law for a few years, and would you believe me if I told you I have seen peodophiles get lesser sentences for such excuses as the child was wearing a "provocative" short skirt. Believe me, it happens, it's what is commonly known as "mitigating circumstances" and these people do not need anymore excuses than they already have.

I for one will be seriously considering whether to shop at La Senza again... I'm not even a mother, but I can certainly see that this is very very morally wrong.

Regards
