Is this the best entry-level bike on the market?

I like it, I nearly went for the previous model to that untill I tried the spesh.

Full 10 speed tiagra makes it upgradeable in bits rather than needing a full groupset.

Worth 2 tribans 3s? Dunno. But If I had 600 to spend I think thats what I wuld have.

Last years came with muguards and had rack fittings, look like this one cant take "proper" guards (though cruds might) and it dont seem to have rack fittings.

the wiggle (Verenti) bike has Tiagra, where as the Decathlon 5A has sora. not clear from the pics if this is 2012 "old skool" sora or 2013 double lever sora.
The Verenti is a little more expensive, but looks to have a slightly better spec.
pays your money , takes your choice time for some

very much depends what you mean by entry-level. Not everyone has £600 to spend on their first bike.

Much less several thousand a year on new carbon frames having got bored of the 2012 ones they bought in the summer.

The bike I referenced gives an idea what I mean by entry-level.

isn't this going at the question a bit backwards?

When you hit the £500 - £600 mark, you can have a choice of decent components on a cheap frame or cheap components on a decent frame. You can get the Giant Defy 4 or a Cannondale CAAD8 or Synapse with 2300 for that price and I think it'd be safe to say the frames on those would be better than the bike the OP linked to. Personally I'd go for the frame first, everything is relatively easy to upgrade if you want to.

The Verenti frames are apparently made by Ridley.
