After deducting VAT and delivery costs and assuming it has gone through 2 or 3 middlemen to get to that e showroom I can confidently state that the bike cost a max of £4.50 to make.

By a quirk of Deptford fate, I just saw the same model bike unlocked outside the chemist's at the end of the High Street. Not as bright as I thought it would be. I then saw a handsome Cannondale Synapse unlocked outside the bookie's. Simple black with white lettering, it caught my eye much more than the other one, but I didn't want to spend too much time looking at it....
