Is Vacuum Pump oil any use to the cycle mechanic?

I have access to several litres of the stuff - it's used, but looks clean as a (slightly yellow) running stream. The packaging doesn't list viscosity.

Good for chains? Or just general household use (hinges etc)?

It'll be a simple mineral oil, probably ISO VG68 or 100. Perfectly good for general oiling of things.

You could vacuum all the air out of the frame to save a gramme or so of weight 🙃
