Much faster by train. It would take about 15-20 mins by train and just less than an hour by bike.

Slower by 10 mins on the way in and slower by 90 mins on the way home !

Never tried mine by public transport, would be much slower by bus as there are no direct routes. train might be quicker but they run at inconvenient times. Either 45 mins early for work and hour wait after work.

That's my problem. To get home I would need to take 2 buses but have to wait 30 mins for the connection. However by the time I get into the town centre the last bus for my village has already left so then also faced with a 30 min walk home afterwards. No brainer compared to a 50 min cycle ride.

Public transport for me involves walking for 15 minutes followed by a 10 minute train journey and a 15 minute bus trip, I can cycle it in between 20 and 30 minutes.

About 50 mins on the bus. That doesn't include waiting for it. Or walking to the bus stop.

30 mins on the bike (fast)

40 mins (easy)

45 mins (snowing)

I commuted 16 miles each way through rural county Durham to Stockton on Tees. By bike it was 1h 3mins in and 1h 20 mins back. My fastest in was 57 minutes and slowest out 1h 35mins. Both on the same day with a howling NW wind! By bus it was 2h 30 mins in and 3h back due to waits for connections. I never did the bus thing these are timetable times so actual times could be longer.

public transport anywhere from around 50mins to 1hr 10 depending on tubes and buses, sometimes longer, but never quicker then 50mins.

The magic of the bike is around 40mins for a 7.5mile ride. The towpath does slow me down a lot though, as I have travelled back from Soho and joined my exact same route and done it in about 45mins. Reason, no one on the towpath late at night.

Question, why the heck do i always get a headwind, no matter which direction travel, i can go around a roundabout and still get one lol. In the mornings i get a strong headwind, then in the evening, another headwind. never a gentel push fwd!! grrrr

I've got a 15 minute cycle - 25-30 if I go the long way round.

Bus would be significantly longer. Despite only being a 3 mile trip as the crow flies, it would be two buses that go all round the houses.

Cycling takes me 12-15 minutes, depending on traffic and lights.

The bus takes me 30-40 minutes, if it comes.

Walking takes about 40 minutes, or a little less.

I've never taken public transport to work. I think I'd rather walk. Indeed I'd have to walk (if I didn't have a car or bike) as the bus doesn't leave early enough to get me to work on time, and you'd have to go round the other villages en-route.
So I'd say definitely faster by bike. 4 miles takes me approx 13-16 mins depending on weather conditions and how energetic I feel. Coming home I've got it down to around 18-25 mins as it is all up hill. I very rarely manage to keep it under 20 mins though as going hell for leather up all the hills in the second chain ring really knackers you out!

Just over half an hour on the bike but can be an hour (or more) if I bus it. Presumably a bit quicker if I take the tube but I am not a great fan of the Underground in the rush hour. Buses are slightly more preferable.
