If I was to get the bus, not inculing waiting time or time its stuck in congestion, it takes around 22min. Depending upon which way I go my commute takes between 15 annd 25 minutes. My old commute was a 1/2 walk or cycle to the station, 5-10 min wait, a 35-45 minute train journey (if things ran on time) and a 1/2 mile walk/ cycle at the other end. On the whole this would take about an hour whereas the complete cycle would take about 1h 15.
I prefer the predictability/ flexibility of the bike.

Depends.

It's about a half hour by bus into town, and they run every half hour during the day. I can cycle it in about 15 minutes.

Train from town is about 15-20 minutes to Birmingham.
The ride to Birmingham directly is around an hour.
The bus to Birmingham is around an hour.

Given I can come and go when I please, my bike is quicker and more convenient than other public transport.

Bike is 25-30 mins, bus would be 45 min plus , but the real killer is by car by having to queue for the ferry it takes anything up to an hour and a half!

The only public transport to my work is the bus, which takes about 15-20min longer than by bike.

I based my poll on when I used to commute to work, as I only work down the road from where I live!

I used to get to work in 10-15mins depending on traffic and bus would easily take 20 to 25mins. Fastest ever time to get home was 6mins33secs, was going out clubbing that night and I used to work 3-9 [30 hours a week]

Public Transport
Bus 10 minutes
Train 26 Minutes
Walk 10 minutes
Waiting for bus and/or train 10 minutes
Total 50 minutes to 1 hour

Bike
20 miles - best time so far 1:40 (still considering a road bike)

Oh to work back in Romford.
5 miles - Bus 25 minutes, bike 15-20 minutes along the side of the A127 (not a good enough surface to go any faster)

My 12 mile commute is only 15 minutes slower than if I do it by motorbike - 35 mins to 50(ish)mins

A car takes 45mins on a good day.

Public transport?

Let's see. Couple of minutes to the bus stop. Lets assume don't have to wait (but you do). 15-20 mins into Leeds. 5mins walk to train station. Train 25 minutes (assuming I get straight on). 5 minute walk to work. Hey only 53 minutes! About the same as the bike.

The grim reality is 1hr 15mins to 1hr 30min.

Dam! Missed! pressed the wrong button! sorry lads. I should have pressed the slower button. I have never used the bus from here but it would take almost twice as long, The bus route is not very direct. I think the first bus is about six am. I would have to leave the house about ten to six to catch it, I normally leave about twenty past six.

6 miles to work takes 25-30mins. Train takes 10 minutes (one stop on the way). Coming back though takes only 20-25mins  best time was 19mins! By car takes 15mins and bus takes 40mins.

I don't actually mind taking longer to get to my work and back...helps me to relax, and think for the day ahead.
