Islabikes Leaving the USA?

According to Bike Portland, some ignoramus legislators in the US have made coaster (backpedalling) brakes mandatory on children's bikes because their little hands can't use a rear handbrake to slow down. As usual, Prats in Power are making decisions based upon ignorance and assumptions.

We've had no problems with youngsters on our CNOC 14s and 16s slowing down (even locking back wheels on looser surfaces.

I was under the impression that it was a financial decision not to do with coaster brakes, where the law has not changed for a while. In fact coaster brakes are only mandatory on small 'sidewalk bikes' (max seat height under 25").
