How far can I go?

We're off to the Isle of Wight for our summer holiday in early July. My wife has never been, and I've only been once to circumnavigate the island. That's not on the cards this year. Does anyone have some flat-ish family friendly routes? Our son is 3.5 and has just mastered his pedal bike, and enjoys zooming around on it. However, he is not ready for hills, and I don't want to put him off his bike. For reference, he probably rode about 6.5-7 miles around our town throughout the day today.

You could try the Red Squirrel trail. I rode it the day before I did a solo Randonee. Nice off road trail and if you pick right section it's flat.

He'll be a tired little man. I've only ever done the loop with cycling buddies, so can't suggest anything more manageable

We are heading there tomorrow to zip round the island! Can’t wait!

I do remember from last time that there is a lovely flat trail from Yarmouth to Freshwater that I think he’d love! Gossips Cafe in Yarmouth is nice and we’re going to the Freshwater Cafe tomorrow so you could do an out and back. I hear Freshwater Bay is nice for a paddle, will report back!

Also there is lovely seaside cycling from Sandowne to Shanklin. Sandowne isn’t v nice but Shanklin seemed nicer. I took my (giant) little boy there too 😂
