I was just 40 when I noticed that reading was a bit of a problem. Turned out I needed distance as well as reading glasses.

The opteometrisitician did me a compromise prescription for reading and pooter use.

The Doris at the hospital optiothingumy department told me - You're 45 and look 35, but you're eyes are the only thing showing your age

Worn glasses all my life, then found myself when about 43 taking them off to read and closing one eye. Now have varifocals <sigh>.

I have worn glasses for driving and riding the bike since i was in my early 20's.
Reading is fine without glasses and i am now 41.

46 and can still tie a size 20 fly without aid. I have always worn glasses for distance sight though.
