and my new Crud mudguards arrived so were duly fitted and I took advantage of the dry weather. Really enjoyed getting out even if it was only a ten mile ride.
The mudguards look like they have always been there.

Keep a regular eye on the tightness of all the little plastic screws. They are ime pretty crap. Indeed, I lost the bottom part of the rear mudguard on the first ride!

Thanks for that , I will give the screw threads a dab of adhesive next time I get the bike out.

Your rear guard should drop further than how you have it (it's up to you but as it is it might be enough to generate a rooster tail for those behind to 'enjoy').

I've lost one screw (front tail) but that's after a thousand plus miles.Just check the tightness each time you clean the bike.

I did look at fitting the longer tail piece but it stuck out quite a distance and looked imo a bit out of place
edit; Yeah, I've just checked the pictures on the box and they do recommend fitting the long tail piece to protect riders behind you.

+1 for the longer rear section.

When all assembled, adjusted & tightened correctly, adding a dab of Loctite 410 into the top of all of the nuts keeps them in place forever.
Not however, the nuts on the fork or seat stay brackets, unless of course they never need removing.

IIRC the middle sections are a different length for the front and rear and you have fitted them the wrong way round which is why the rear extension will stick out a long way, I could be wrong but don't think I am.

I gave up on these since I was going through them at a rate of at least one pair a year, so fitted PDW full metal fenders.

Nope, I double checked and it would be difficult to mix up the two middle sections on the Mk2 cruds, the front and rear tips are completely different sizes where they attach to the middle section . i have now fitted the longer tail piece and made some fine adjustments and all is well, thanks for the advice.

WARNING! Those plastic pads will erode the paintwork on the stays when gritty water gets trapped behind them. They will abrade the paint away as they fret. Take them off and wrap a couple of layers of vinyl tape around the stays.

Already done prior to fitting, thanks.
