Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Ouch! I varied my route today after seeing ice.

Hope all are OK and recover quickly.

9 of us went down, the worst being a broken femur which was being operated on this afternoon apparently!

I got of relatively lightly, hole in left elbow on jacket and both base layers, decent graze on left elbow. The bike also only suffered minor damage, left hand shifter badly grazed, but some wet and dry and some Shimano paint should rectify that.

The guy with the broken femur, his bike is in a very bad way, frame damage and both wheels

Sounds like you were very unlucky to find ice. Poor guy with a broken femur, that’s going to be a long recovery. Hope the rest of you heal quickly.

We were indeed, but when we had all come off, it was pretty much impossible to stand or walk on the road it was that bad!!

30 minutes later, the sun had warmed up and the road was perfectly free from any ice at all!!!!

Blimey. Just goes to show you think all is good then WHAM!
Black ice is deadly. Many decades ago I wrote off my mother's car on black ice, lovely bright sunny day, cold but didn't think any problems. I was actually heading out to go surfing when came around a corner and found a car spinning in middle of road on ice. I couldn't stop or steer so smacked into it. No-one hurt but pretty scary.
Hope all cyclists ok. Broken femur not good.

That's how I broke my hip socket and pelvis last January. No speed, under 10 mph going round a corner, and bam, straight onto my pelvis. No bike damage, no clothing damage. Even lost it on studded tyres - very 'slick/worn' road surface.

Hope the guy is OK as it's a long recovery.

We were so lucky, as you can see from the rear facing video, a car was following us at the time we all hit the deck. But thankfully far enough behind us to stop.

When we all fell off, you could hear the wheels of that car sliding on the ice, it could have ended so differently!!
