The Snow was fun for a while, but the ice wasn’t. There is only so much I could take without losing too much motivation. Well at the weekend, I swapped the knobbly "Snow" tyres back to the semi-slicks that I havnt had the chance to ride on all year.

OMG, Its like cycling on air! One pedal stroke pushed me 10 times further than on the knobblies. My commute to work today saw me arrive at work before anyone else and my return commute was even better! Two sets of unaware peds on the cycletrack, a cocky chav with his dog (also all over the cycletrack) a car that missed my foot by inches as I allowed them past parked cars (while I had priority) and none of it even phased me!

Im still beaming and looking forward to more commutes!

have been thinking of swapping back to the semi slicks too. Would do it this evening but I've just got out of the shower after washing & lubing the bike. It would also mean trying out my new track pump but i'm lacking motivation since it's nearly 9pm.

I got my motivation back as well. I only got to take my bike out for an hour, because by the time I got back from school, it was only 1 hour before it got dark. I managed to handle myself fine in heavy traffic, which I was always a bit intimidated by, but I noticed if I just relaxed, and used my eyes and common sense, I will be fine*
Also, my new bike is a thousand times faster than my Sirrus**
I'm getting up early, and going out for a cycle tomorrow once the sun is up.

MTB tucked away tonight and Hybrid got ready for the commute tomorrow.Only problem is the roads are worse than ever with all the damage the snow and ice has caused so the MTB might be pressed into service as a commuter with road tyres fitted...we will see

OK, I caved & swapped the tyres. Was really getting fed up with the extra drag.

Rode the hybrid in today,what a massive difference in speed and pace ! Love the MTB for it's snow/off-road qualities,but i love my Sirrus on road.

I wonder how fast i would be if my bike wasn't a dedicated commute bike with heavy tyres.
