Nice that the old gent helped you out, and you would have had 2 bike shops to choose from should you have needed them, 3 if you would want to include halfords on clough road. I like Hayworth pub, good way to start a night out :-)

I got a 'drink of water, use the phone, anything we can do to help' from a little old lady when I got a puncture while lost in some of the Notts back streets. I had just about fixed it by then, but lovely to hear.

My fairing post broke near Newcastle, and a little old lady was there within seconds to offer me a cup of tea. I was then fed a constant supply of tea and biccies until the fairing could be collected and I could continue on my way:
