Hehehe
One seller, got this haul from her...
25122011053.jpg

2 shimano hollowtech 2 wrenches, still in packaging, cost IRO £8 each
Park Tools CC-3 chain checker, still in packaging, original cost IRO £9
Park Tools Chain brute splitter, still in packaging, original cost £15
SRAM 10 speed quick link, still packaged...maybe £3
Couple of plastic tyre levers
Specialized small saddle bag, fair condition
Smart LED front light, tested and working

IRO £50 worth of bits.....£5 for the lot

TBF, its unusual to get bits like this, but nice to get the opportunity.

Also, my eyes nearly popped out when i saw a brooks B17 on a stall...YESSSSS, straight over to it (showing mock disinterest of course)...but it was in very poor condition, the nose had split and the leather was way way beyond decent. Bugger...

Here's hoping its like this every week (no chance of course, but you can dream)

Then of course, there's weeks where you see nowt of interest. Last week, bogger all, but my first trip this year up to Nottingham....got me a brand new Altura Cropton windproof jacket, still got its altura description tag on it.
50p
It is a tad big, but who cares.
I thought it'd be about £10 to £15 new...£25 plus

Some people are just stupid (thankfully). I'd have paid a fiver for it. I guess these things are brought as presents, owner has no interest in it or how much it cost.

Well, took a punt on a computer this last Sunday. 2 whacking great carboots, nothing of interest at all, i was headed for dissapointment.
Then just at the death, a guy i brought from a couple of weeks ago was there again. Took a gamble on a VDO C1DS wireless computer, complete with manual, only had light use, but needed batteries.
Paid £2, even got a spare transmitter, put some batteries in today, set it up, works perfectly.

Discontinued now, but i see they were a £25 to £35 computer. Chuffed

I'm convinced car boot sales are just covers for thieves to sell off stolen stuff...especially when things are still in their original packaging or 'second hand' electrical/ computer stuff without things you'd expect, like mains adapters/ cables and instruction manuals. Call me cynical.... no doubt there are a lot of legitimate sellers.

No, not cynical...ive seen it myself (or suspected it)
Couple of years ago there was a seller with 2 or 3 brand new sets of Topeak Highlite sets (LED front and rear)...£3 each set  They cost £15 a set.
1 set, yes, probably legit, 3 sets, it makes you wonder. I did buy a set. You're between a rock and a hard place...you dont know they're stolen, but...

Otherwise, you see plenty of single items (cycling, elecrical or otherwise) which raise no issues for me whatsoever. Like i said, i think many things (probably like those park tool items) that are brought then theyve lost interest, or items brought as presents, the seller has no idea how much they're worth.

TBF, i'm a carboot nut, have been for years. I did see the Police arrest someone at Calverton (Notts) last year, he was selling a load of power tools etc. No doubt the loser had a lookee and saw his stuff, but otherwise, there's so so much stuff, its impossible to filter out what may (only may) be stolen.

Today...a LED cateye light, working...20p. No bracket, but ive got plenty of spare
A Kona saddle, very very good condition...£1. That'll do for my sons bike.
A Bikehut Kevlar 26 inch tyre...just what i want for my sons bike again...£2, good condition. Came complete with a 6 speed rear wheel, very true and smooth.

There is one local to us, and it istha bane of our lives with the illegal and dangerous parking, but that is a different story

However there is a wonderful tale I heard about the local plod /trading standards

They let I be known they were going to be visiting on a particular weekend, and lo and behold the number of stalls dropped dramatically

What wasn't known was they had been along the previous week taking details, and now had a list of regulars who felt they needed to avoid a trading standards inspector

Subtle.
