I have no need for a new car regularly so given the low mileage I do.

I went through my petrolhead phase about 10-15 years ago, changing frequently (always used cars though)...now I probably do the same with bikes, which is far cheaper losing a few hundred rather than thousands

You were doing it wrong, I've had over 50 cars probably over 70 & only ever lost money on 2 of them, buy them cheap, do them up & sell them on.

I don’t personally do anything up. No time, no skills, no interest. Probably why it cost me money (which I had)

Hyundai i40 Tourer. I ran one as a company car for 3 years, just over 100k miles with the only thing being replaced being brake pads, one set of tyres (60k out of each tyre!) and an indicator bulb. Rear view camera went on the blink after a couple of months but they replaced it no problem. Comfortable, economical and easy to get a bike in the back. In fact it was big enough to get the bike in the back and still room to recline the seat so I could sleep overnight when I did the MoKBike challenge. Spent less time off the road than all the Insignias, Mondeos, BMWs and Audis in the company.

I would recommend a BMW or Audi as it means you can always park much closer to wherever you want to go.

Soon these cars will drop you outside where you want to be and go and park themselves.
A decade later, the other cars will get that option also.

Full leccy has 200+mile range now and you should take a break every few hours anyway so that gives time to recharge and do 350 miles in a day.

This seems to have passed unnoticed. Take a look at the appearance and specs of the new Nissan Leaf which has just been announced.

At the minute, these cars come with an excellent service of people who will come and move your car to a special parking area. However, the service fee is quite high

Hi Gavroche, I'm sure you can - but I really don't think my bike would. Its a full sized tourer - 23.1/2" frame with full mudguards and flaps which I just don't take off.

Having had a C220 I changed to a temp Mondeo ended up keeping it. Easily will fit any bike without removing wheels and I mean easy, all the same gadgets as the Merc but a much lower P11d value. CO2 regs have just changed for company car values so check before leaping in.

The Mondeo isnt the most exciting car but it is extremely practical

I've always owned 'big' vehicles, Volvo estates, LWB Landrovers, VW vans and I've been running a Citroen Berlingo for the last few years.
All 'could' take multiple bikes in the back
None ever have.
Every one had a tow ball
I have a tow ball mounted Thule bike rack, it take upwards of 30 seconds to fit.
Unless you are overnighting in a dodgy area I'd never put a bike in the back

(also even in crap weather the bikes stay dry)

My brother has an older touring Alpina. Pretty sure I’ve had one of my bikes in the back
