It's nearly time.

It is nearly that time of the year when road users get six weeks free of the morning school run.
In my experience it means traffic is spaced out over a greater length of time and is therefore a bit calmer and easier to negotiate.
What are your experiences, good or bad?

Traffic speeds increase. I prefer it during term time as I get to gloat over more people going nowhere.

Agree with Touché, the traffic is much quieter but they drive faster making it less frequent hazard but riskier
Balances itself out from that perspective.
Bonus is less queuing at junctions, RABs etc

This was me too, until a few weeks ago, now do a 'day' shift every other week.

What's the school run?
It won't effect me as I'm going to work either 04:30 or 16:30, and return either 17:30 or 05:30.
I did get banned from dropping my mother off at school when her car was in for a service (before she retired).

Very rarely my shifts coincide with the school run, if they do I just go to work earlier/leave a bit later

Whatever happened to '6 weeks to tear your breeks & 1 week to mend them' - before going back to walking or cycling to school. I'm always astonished by how much traffic children appear to generate.
Being on a low-ish recumbent, not needing to avert one's gaze going past groups of young ladies also makes a change.

well we have had a bit of can i say selfish good news the local private school is to close at the end of term,the parents that pick up at day school drive to fast in to big cars and are always late ,do not slow down at junctions and lets say they are not going to be missed by the locals,shame the school is closing but every cloud and all that
