Radio 2 has just been doing a piece regarding the horserider who was convicted of criminal damage after throwing her riding crop at a car whose driver had blasted his horn at her because he'd had to wait 30 seconds to pass.

There was a rather ignorant woman on to give the side of motorists, who trotted out (sorry) all the crap that is usually reserved for cyclists: they don't belong on the road, they frustrate motorists, they aren't asked to go through a test, the horse isn't checked for roadworthiness, they should be capable of travelling at 30mph to keep up with traffic, if they want to share the road with me etc etc..

As her interview ended he thanked her by name for her 'contribution' and, never having heard of her, I had to Google the name.

Then I understood why she sounded so thick.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I'd put money on the reality being the Audi idiot just coudn't wait a few seconds before it was safe so he was right up the horses rear ends tooting. he shouldnt have been on a country road if he isnt prepard to accept and deal with horses.

Is sounding your horn in frustration (ooerr mrs..) illegal in itself?

magistrate Ian Cawley: "Jacob Knox was measured in his response and was consistent and credible. Jessica Mills admitted to being more concerned about the horse so we therefore don't find her evidence as compelling."

After the case Mills who lives on a farm in Woodford said: "I have been made to feel like a criminal for protecting my horse and myself. At the time I asked him if he knew the High Way Code and suggested he go back home to learn it.

"I was only protecting my horse

It sounds as if the spoilt brat in the Audi had the better solicitor.

Maybe just a knobhead of a magistrate.
On the other hand lodges, funny handshakes, odd rituals, squares and compasses might have a part to play.

She is a horrible freelance, pen for hire.
Here is a piece by her in the Mirror about why she drives her kids to school.

It looks like, ironically, she writes a lot of health articles for the Daily Mail. Being the DM, I assume half the articles are about how everyday things cause cancer whilst the other are about how the self-same everyday things might be a miracle cure.

The car drive article seems desperate to justify her choice. I actually jump at the chance I get to walk my daughter to school - 15 minutes of time together which happens too rarely. I see other parents (not many, most walk thankfully - the narrow roads around the school would be gridlocked if everyone drove) driving and they tend to stop for 30 seconds whilst the child is jettisoned out the car and the parent speeds off. I cannot imagine that is "quality time".

It appears to be a Volvo XC90 that she drives. The Chelseaist of Chelsea tractors.

It is indeed an XC90, though the RR Sport trumps these for Chelsea doesn't it? That said, XC90 is very practical, you can get many bikes in/on and lug lots of stuff/kids/dogs etc etc
