I'm off to a pie party armed with a rabbit pie bought from a local-ish butcher and a home made steak and kidney pie (picture to follow).

It's been a good week for pies - at least one a day

I'm aware of their pie night but they are rationed to one pie per customer

I am proud to announce that my steak and kidney pie was judged to be the winner at tonight's piefest. It won against some stiff opposition both home made and commercially produced. What was even more gratifying was that my pie was the only one to be wholly home made some of the competition used shop bought pastry.

I use mushrooms and celery to bolster the onion when making the gravy/sauce to go into the pie with the meat though i wouldn't include mushrooms in the title of the pie as they've been finely chopped and mushed by the time they've formed part of the filling.

Just to round the weekend off, I've had a Bentleys of Pudsey steak and potato pie for breakfast. Very nice too.

I don't want to think about how many pies I've demolished this week - some were vaguely healthy
