3 guys book a triple room in the hotel.
The manager tells them it's £30 total so they all throw in £10.
After a while the manager realises the cost should only be £25......so he gives his assistant £5 to give back to them.
On his way the assistant decides to keep £2 himself and gives them ust £3.
So......in effect they have paid £9 each x 3 which =£27.
So....if they have paid £27 and he has kept £2.......where has the missing £1 gone?

If you know this one give others a chance.

Do you have any good puzzles ?

Seven will give Eight, whilst Six will give Nine.
However
To get Seven requires Three, whilst to get Six requires Five.
Two will give One, whilst Six can give nothing.

I can do the maths arithmetic

but the way it is phrased still makes it seem wrong to me

just shows how easy it is to create a wrong concept by phrasing it differently

I believe it's called 'mathematical misdirection'.

I am guessing 42 but am probably miles out.

Well there are 7 people and they shake hands with everyone else
i.e. 6 people each

so 7 times 6

42

(anyone shouting 6 7 at this point should be reported to the Mods and banished to "The Other Place" for all time!!!!!)
