If top dressing is such a good idea then it should be obligatory for council leaders gonna be their driveways done.

It should also be compulsory for them to be made to ride a racing bike with narrow tyres blown up to the max on their so called roads and still see if they think they are adequate. Lol. I swear I have felt my eyeballs vibrate in their sockets on some of the roads around here.

I went on a 10-miler on the way to collect my son from Explorers only to find that the last downhill stretch - Coxgrove Hill - had been treated like this. Bah !

I had to mince down gingerly on the brakes rather than hooning along at 40mph.
And Cuckoo lane ...

They're supposed to have started resurfacing one of the roads, I use on my commute to work, this morning.
(Ferry Lane, from Altofts, via 'Stanley Ferry', to Aberford Road)

I rode along it, at 07:00, & there was no sign of any machinery, barring a surface-planer parked up
I'm wondering if that implies a full resurface, rather than just a tar & chip
(I think there's 55 marked potholes, in a 1/2 mile stretch, ranging from 5" long, to almost 3 foot)

I went along it on the Thursday morning, & the first stretch to be re-laid was like a 'feather-bed'
That said, I've no idea if they're top-dressing' it??

Most of the roads they've done around here have had a road sweeper along them now. To be honest, it's not really any better. The sides of the roads are still covered in loose stuff.
I've tried to keep off them, but it's not easy as most of my routes from home cover at least a few hundred yards of slippery nastiness.

I had never come across it on a bike until last year towards the end of a FNRttC to Brighton. A back lane into Ditchling must have been sprayed within the previous 24 hours. It was absolutely terrifying to ride on, even though it was pretty flat and straight. Ghastly stuff.
