I need to get away or there will be a domestic incident.
At my age I can manage about 60 miles a day. Take the basics and wander from night stop to night stop.

I am an hour away from Dover. Thoughts about a 5 or 6 day route. My budget would like to camp but common sense tells me that I need electricity every night.

Any suggestions , either side of the Channel?

If I was only an hour from Dover, it would be an easy choice for me - get on that ferry!
From there, I'm not familiar with the area around Calais, so I would probably get a train south to Amiens. I once did a few day rides out of Amiens which were very pleasant. There's a riverside path along the Somme IIRC which goes to Abbeville and then to the coast at St Valery sur Somme. That was a really nice ride; Abbeville is worth a visit. Plenty of military history in the area too if you are interested in the 2 WW's..

Ooh, I thought this was going to be a celebration of tennis thread 🤣
Only we are going for the first time on Wednesday with pals who got seats for Court 2…..didn’t realise you can take a bottle of wine/fizz per person: glad they are driving 🫣

You could cycle to Paris…maybe camp every other night?

I make a point of never watching it as I simply cannot stand it (or Tennis in general actually).

My parents watched Wimbledon religiously every year and it is that that made me want to rather gouge my own eyeballs out with a rusty spoon than see it!

Unfortunately, the Sadists who do these news quizzes will probably add a question or two, so... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

St Valery is a good idea . Ive sailed there and liked it.
Could take the van.
Mission creep and budget creak.

Thought it was a tennis thread too. I nearly avoided clicking on it but curiosity got the better of me as it is posted in the Touring section.
Perhaps @Gwylan could change the thread title.

And for what it's worth. Another vote for crossing the channel. Some great countryside riding from Calais.

dover to Dunkirk. Cycle to Ypres, 50 miles. Next day do Salient Battlefield Tour circa 30 miles. Return from Ypres to Dunkirk the next day - great venue for cycling. Excellent motorists, lots of cycle lanes ( proper ones), fairly flat etc

Thank you. I know I lived there for almost 20 years.
My great grand father was Belgian. The two events are totally unrelated and happenstance.
It's where I really started my affair with cycling.

I've done this trip at least 4 times. Love the trip and Ypres is a great base - good food, good hotels, good bars
