I was off work today so no commute from Fife to Embra.

For those hardy souls out in the wind today how was it?

Looked a bit bleak this am. I s'pose it might have been better on the way back tho.

On the bike tomorrow am so hoping that the wind doesn't kick up even more.

Recommend not watching any weather forecasts then.

i did it today. the worst bit was coming down the hill at dalgety bay where i thought i could get a rest... nope, had to actually cycle down the hill because i genuinely was being brought to a standstill with the gusts.

the bit past the army barracks towards the royal elizabeth yard is really open in one section and that was a bit of a slog as well.

i'm down south tomorrow so have a bumpy take of and landing to look forward to!

Looks like the Forth Road Bridge was closed to cyclists this am. Saw a guy waiting on a bike as I went passed Inverkeithing on the train.

I'm glad I didn't get there and have to turn back.

Hope for less blowy weather tomorrow.

I had great fun yesterday, my gear cable snapped at Cramond on the way back to Inverkeithing leaving me with the 3 highest gears in the range! Luckily it was a tail wind over the bridge:biggrin:

Cycled in with it the same today, but no-one in Edinburgh has time to fit a new cable so cried off and getting the wife to pick me up from work as I don't fancy cycling into that head wind with no gears to speak of.

BTW, the bridge was shut today but I saw a Forth Road Bridge van with bikes in the back being driven over

Bottled it this morning the silver birch tree in my back garden was being bounced around like a daffodil in a spring breeze. The run in would have been record breaking but I fancy getting home before nightfall. ;)

A bit of a titanic struggle to keep moving forward against some of the gusts this morning between 6 - 6.30am. Going from about 18mph to 8mph in a second or less is a bit disconcerting!

The whole trip turned into a kind of demented slalom as I avoided wheelie bins, traffic cones, bin bags, traffic furniture and branches that were sitting in the roads.

At one point I was pelted by loose stone chippings blowing off someone's garden whilst cycling up Craigleith Hill Avenue. Painful...

Aye that's a sneaky wee hill, doesn't look very steep, until you cycle directly into the wind... ;)

It is - the slightest head-on breeze can turn it into a right old slog, but I reckon it has helped my fitness since I started taking that route when Ferry Road got closed off during the summer.

Had to pedal going down very steep hill this morning, took me an extra 10mins to get in to work, mind you coming home was a breeze, hardly pedalled at all.
