I've Flipped!

I was putting a pair of gatorskins on my single speed today and thought as I had the rear wheel off anyway I'd flip it. I'm now ridding fixed and seem to have taken to it like a duck to water! I'll find out tomorrow when I go for a longer ride.

I didn't go far today so I'm good. I'm also getting used to this single gear stuff so I can go further with less effort with every passing week.

Better yet, we move offices on 1st April. I should be ready to commute on a fixed gear by then.

Managed a short ride today without anything bad happening. It's really nice being able to control my speed without needing the brakes. I even managed to slow down on the slope down to my house and stop next to my house without using the brakes.

And after a short while it'll feel weird slowing down with the brakes. I rode freewheel for the second time this year today. I kept thinking my bike was broken and forgot to change gear.

Even after I've switched to fixed for commuting (3 weeks to go!) I'll still use my road bike at weekends. I wonder how that'll work out?
