I trust no Fresian cows were killed during the making of that photograph? ;)

No, no, that bag is 100% plastic...

I found it in a charity shop, and you know, I never use it. I wouldn't like to leave anything on the bike, for security and the stuff I lug about day to day half fills a pannier. So it's sheer decoration:biggrin:

So no Fresians. There may have been some Aberdeen Angus or Hereford in the pie I had for dinner though.

Are there any repercussions to having drum brakes?

It's behind the bikes, under all the junk....

Summerdays - no I haven't, for two reasons. One, I fear it might not be rated for 11 stone. Two, I think if I got down that far, I might never get up again! Enjoy your visit to them - are you looking at a Rothan, or something bigger? If Oli takes to this, of course, I'll be looking for a Cnoc in a year or so....

Expensive business, this auntying. Still, I do adore him.... If he doesn't get a sibling (it's vaguely planned), he's going to end up seriously spoilt by Aunty Sue and both grannies.

I'm going looking at the Beinn 24 I think - for my youngest. My main worry about them is the sizing isn't the same as for other bikes - you seem to move up wheel size slightly faster (different ages) than on the bikes in the LBS - good but just means I'm less sure about the sizing. And also only having rear gears - part of the problem of being the youngest is keeping up with the rest of us. Hopefully the larger wheels would help with that. He is currently on a 20" bike which he has had about 14 months so far.

I was sitting on he Millennium Bridge a while back, waiting for some friends, and a family came over, all on bikes, the Mum and Dad on roadie/hybridy type bikes and both kids on Islabikes, of the racy sort and I thought that was the sign of a seriously cycling family.

I love seeing all the kids at the CTC rally, in their tiny jerseys, shorts and mitts, and some serious small but perfectly formed bikes....
