Lewis Floyd Henry and his 30w pram...

A "Facebook find"; someone I was at school with seems to have signed him up. I think he's playing shows in the UK in the next month or so.

What if you only like old shite?

That's my problem - I thought (I have been proved wrong) that the music world ended in the early 80's. I could hear the new bands nicking all the original ideas from earlier times.

I went on to discover jazz - Davis to Esbjörn Svensson, Sonic Youth, Radiohead (still creating stunning and original sounds) and 'my' latest new find is Julia Holter well worth exploring ...

Interesting stuff so far. Not a new one for me, more a rediscovery, I've not played any of their stuff for years and was surprised to find out they're still going and winning awards:

If you like Julia Holter, Mick - I'm sure you will like Camille! From 'Le Fil'

Yes Teef very pleasant, but Holter has an edgy, deep, complex sound - you can hear lots influences, but nothing obvious, not just a pretty face & voice. Not that you'd ever be influenced solely by Gallic beauty.

Still listen to Dead Can Dance quite a bit, although I can never really decide if they're actually pretty good or just a bit daft.

Fairly unique, they're just starting world tour, but I don't think I'll make the trip to London to see them.

The Faroese artist Lena Anderssen has appeared on my podcast a number of times over the years. Great voice, great singer/songrwiter:

New discovery for me, but they've been around a while, is a band called Flipron. I saw them live a couple of weeks ago and they were excellent. This video even features a bicycle^_^:

Yeah, liking the Civil Wars. They've got a couple of albums out. I've got Barton Hollow. They're on at the Shepherds Bush Empire in the 19th, my mate got tickets, but then it's the same date as Joan Baez in Oxford and there won't be so many opportunities to see her. I'm hoping to get along.

This is brilliant: A cover of Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know" by Walk off the earth that's better than the original (IMO). 5 people playing 1 guitar is worth seeing even if you don't like the song.

Another discovery I made a while ago is Elizaveta. Saw her in my mate's local boozer the Elgin in Ladbroke Grove. Turns out she's quite the international rising star.
