@Cyclopathic, maybe someone has cheekily pinched it and had taken it on a tour abroad before they bring it back!! 
I simply visualise whatever it is I'm trying to find. Strangely that helps as I know exactly what I'm looking for and can filter everything out..... If that makes sense.

Do you mean the Odd-Socks? I have there relatives the Other-Socks in my sock drawer.
I have completely solved that problem. I only buy black socks.

Great idea. I solved it by buying sets of socks and wearing the remaining ones as an odd pair.

Nope. I've lost heart a bit now that a few people reckon it's definitely nicked. Haven't been looking and decided to leave it. It'll turn up eventually, probably when I'm looking for something else in a few months.
