I've never seen THIS much ice before!

The whole pavement and road where I live is completely covered in a "shell" of ice, about 5mm thick.

I have never heard Fareham so totally silent and free of traffic on a weekday!

There is no bloody chance of me even thinking about getting either of my bikes out in this!

I did put my trainers on and went ice-skating though; couldn't resist! :wahhey:

Remember freezing rain in Birmingham once. Tried to get into the car. Couldn't get the key into the lock. It was like I was drunk. Eventually I worked out that since it was 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't drunk. Looked at the lock to find a blob of ice over the hole. However when I got into the car, I realised that the windscreen was covered in a layer of ice that I was never going to be able to scrape off. So I took the train. Where the modern units had to be replaced by older ones due to ice on the overhead wire. Train really struggled to get in - kept loosing power every few seconds, but we made it in the end.

Some countries have this problem regularly. Some great but scary pictures on the web.

I have sinned today and driven in after last nights butt twitching ride in traffic madness.Roads are quieter today so it should not be a gridlock trauma so i do not feel as bad seeing i've done my stint in this snow.
Who got loads of "You must be mad" points this year ???

Its like that on my road too. About an inch of ice covering the whole road for a couple of days, but now its starting to get some chunks out of it so wasnt a nice experience riding on a road where there was "ice pot holes".

+1 on going for a skate though!

The rear brakes on the wife's car froze overnight !! Never had that happen before so from now on will be leaving it in gear rather than applying the handbrake in the current climate.

Cycled through Fareham this morning on the Catrike - great fun, except I had problems with one slope which I could not get up!

It is basically a kerb with a drive, but as there is a turn on to it you can't run uo and even at 50 psi there was insufficient grip to proceed.

Most satisfying is that a colleague with a big Japanese 4x4 couldn't make it in till 10:30, whilst I was there by 08:00!

Mind you - aquiet day as all the patients were not able to get in!

Cyclist turned off A32 in Fareham this morning onto Lower Quy Road as I was just getting on my bike after walking 200 yds from home to get to an ice free bit.

He hurtled round the corner of the main - ice free -road and as I shouted it's icy he experienced gravity and loss of traction. If he was on Strictly Come Dancing he would have got an 8.
