I've taken the freehub off...where do I put the WD40?

I've taken the freehub off my bike because i was fed up of walking home tonight - no power when pedalling.

The bearings on the drive side were bone dry and coated in very thick pastey grit...they will be re-greased and reinserted.

How do I service the freehub body? Do i put some WD40 in the small circlular slit/gap on the wheel-side of the freehub, then dribble some light oil in? I think that is what Globalti was suggesting on a related thread.

Because the WH-R500 rear hub is built just like nearly all Shimano rear hubs, all you need to do is to get this, possibly also the associated spacers to ensure you maintain the rear hub width.
Am I seeing things? All of those things in the link for a total of £1.99+ 0.99p postage?

Take 2
Gave the freehub a more thorough flush through with WD40, then thin oil and the freehub is working again. Re-assembled, then the cones were too tight. Slacken off a tad and wheel spins nicely. Back on the bike tomorrow, Insha-Allah!
Temporary fix...Got a new freehub on order!
Thanks for your help.

Be aware that it is not unusual for freehub bodies to stop working when it is very cold (sub-zero temps) - the oil in there is very light and also if any water has got in - which it does- then it will freeze and the pawls can't work so you lose drive. If you keep your bike in an unheated shed/garage you can get this problem. If you take the wheel indoors and leave it for 15-20 minutes it may well work again. Just one of those things?
